What is the best and most effective way to clean an Acer screen?

Try a dry microfiber cloth. Just make sure to brush or blow off any visible dirt (or anything that can scratch the screen). Then just buff out the smudges. Windex can damage LCD screens due to the alcohol content. If something was spilled on the screen then a slightly damp microfiber cloth should do the trick.
